REHAB
What We Offer
Our Rehabilitation specialists provide educational programmes for our patients who need assistance with a variety of problems including poor postural alignment, sports trauma and injuries, as well as low muscle tone and weakness, balance issues or simply a desire to get back to exercise.
Have you recently had surgery such as a hip or knee replacement? Rehabilitation can help restore function providing benefits in both the short and long term. Our aim is to help you Move Well, Eat Well and Think Well! We want to assist you in restoring your day-to-day function and in turn improve your long-term health benefits.
We offer Rehabilitation programmes tailored to specific conditions such as:
• Muscle, ligament or joint injuries
• Orthopaedic surgery, such as knee and hip replacements
• Fractures
• Spinal injuries or surgery
• Poor postural alignment
• Sports trauma and injuries
• Low muscle tone and weakness
• Balance issues.
New Patient appointment
If you are not currently a patient at the Practice we will ask you to complete a patient record form with relevant health and medical information.
For your first Rehab appointment we recommend a 60 minute appointment. This will enable your practitioner to have the time to go through your individual patient record form with you, to discuss areas of concern and the issues you have been having.
The assessment can be a physical one, for a suspected injury; acute or chronic pain, sports-related issues, back pain, trauma, sprains, strains and fractures. A ‘non-injury’ physical assessment can also be completed such as: a gait analysis, assessment on muscle activation, strength, stability and balance.
Core stability and posture are key aspects of injury recovery and prevention. This is explained and assessed during a Rehab Assessment. Whether for recovery or prevention, these sessions will benefit and enhance your day to day living and/or sports performance.
Bespoke Treatment Plan
Subsequent Rehab treatments will be 30 minutes. We will normally book your appointments on a one-by-one basis, reviewing your progress at each stage. We view your treatment plan as individual and personal to you. Customised exercise plans, drawn up by your practitioner, will target the areas that you need to focus on. For patients who are following a post-surgery Rehab protocol, we are happy to block book appointments according to the schedule recommended for you by your surgeon. These can then be adjusted as you go along, depending on your progress.
Ongoing Care
To help achieve your goals and progress your recovery, after your initial appointment you will be provided with an Aftercare leaflet which includes post-treatment guidance from your practitioner.
To maximise recovery, your Rehabilitation specialist may also facilitate specific exercises that can be done at home to increase your strength and flexibility so that you're able to maintain and build upon the gains from your treatment.
Patients are encouraged to contact the Practice if they have any concerns or questions following their treatment.
