REFLEXOLOGY
What We Offer
Reflexology is a gentle and effective form of therapeutic treatment applied to the feet and sometimes to the hands. Reflexology aims to treat the individual as a whole, in order to induce a state of balance and harmony in body, mind and spirit.
It is based on the belief that there are reflex areas on the feet (and hands) corresponding to all the parts of the body including major organs. The Reflexologist stimulates and works on these organs and systems through the reflexes by applying pressure to the feet with thumb and fingers.
During the first visit, a case history is taken in order to assess possible imbalances or problem areas. The patient is made comfortable on the adjustable treatment table and asked to remove shoes and socks. Once the feet have been cleansed, the treatment starts with a gentle and calming sequence which helps to relax the patient and guide the Reflexologist to any problem areas.
Many people benefit from Reflexology. It can bring relief from a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions and is suitable for all ages, including children. We can also accommodate patients with limited mobility.
The treatment is pleasant and soothing. It is relaxing, while stimulating the body’s own healing processes. However, each person responds to a treatment in a unique way. Patients are given an Aftercare Leaflet following the first treatment explaining possible reactions. Once the body has been rebalanced, regular treatments can help to maintain health and general well-being.
Reflexology does not claim to be a ‘cure-all’ but numerous disorders have been successfully treated by this method. These include migraine, sinus problems, hormone imbalances, breathing disorders, digestive problems, circulatory problems, back problems, tension and stress. Many patients who have experienced reflexology find it beneficial and relaxing.
New Patient Appointment
Before your first appointment we will ask you to complete a patient record form with relevant health and medical information.
Your first appointment will include a consultation followed by a treatment and will take approximately one hour. This appointment will enable the Reflexologist to have the time to go through your individual patient record form with you, to discuss areas of concern and the issues you have been having.
Bespoke Treatment Plan
Further treatments are available for 30 or 60 minutes. Your Reflexologist will suggest which will be more suitable for you and how frequently they recommend you visit.
Ongoing Care
You will be provided with an Aftercare leaflet following your initial appointment, which includes post-treatment guidance from your Reflexologist.
Please contact the Practice if you have any concerns or questions following treatment.
