MASSAGE
What We Offer
Massage therapy is an important aspect of the patient care we provide at Creative Chiro. Whether you need a specialist massage to deal with pain relief or injury management or require a calming treatment to ease tension and stress, our Massage Therapists are highly qualified and experienced in a range of techniques, to treat a wide variety of issues.
Deep Tissue Massage
This massage technique focuses on deeper layers of muscles, tendons and fascia (connective tissue). It releases chronic muscle tension and muscle fibres whilst relaxing and soothing the muscle. Deep tissue massage is therapeutic, corrective and can release toxins to help the flow of oxygen, nutrients and with general circulation. This massage can be full body or focused on specific muscle groups.
Sports Injury Massage
Hands-on techniques are used in Sports Massage to manipulate the muscles, tendons and ligaments in the body to prevent or improve sports injuries. Sports Massage combines a variety of techniques including trigger pointing, stretching and mobilising. It is also a specific therapy for pain relief and injury management.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
MLD is a whole-body technique combining very gentle pressure with sweeping strokes and a soft pumping movement in the direction of the lymph nodes. As MLD uses very gentle pressure it is suitable for conditions such as lymphoedema, where swollen areas prohibit the use of deep pressure massage techniques. This light pressure is used because the lymph vessels are superficial, i.e. close to the body’s surface. The process of MLD encourages the blood and lymph circulation to remove the waste and distribute nutrients and oxygen back around the body.
Myofascial Release
Fascia is the web like connective tissue under your skin which encases your entire body. It is made up primarily of densely packed collagen fibres. The deep Fascia associated with muscles, bones and nerves can become tight and overworked, particularly through prolonged inactivity or stress related tension. Scar tissue can also form in it due to injuries, restricting movement further and causing pain.
Myofascial Release is a stretching and rolling technique that treats the tightness and pain by relaxing contracted muscles improving blood and lymphatic circulation and enhancing muscle flexibility.
Pre/Post Race Treatments
Get race fit! Our pre-race treatments will help increase flexibility and reduce risk of injury. Reward your body with a post-race massage, which will help your body along with the recovery process. The treatment may include stretches and home care up to and after the race depending on your needs.
Rock Tape
Rock Tape is also known as kinesiology tape. While the use of kinesiology tape is often associated with athletes, medical professionals use it to alleviate a wide variety of ailments, for example Plantar Fasciitis, lower back issues and postural correction, not just sports injuries.
New Patient appointment
Before your appointment we will ask you to complete a patient record form with relevant health and medical information.
Your first visit appointment will include a consultation with your Massage Therapist, who will go through your patient form with you, discuss any areas you feel need attention, such as neck and shoulders and the type of massage you would prefer, such as deep tissue or a gentler pressure.
Bespoke Treatment Plan
Your therapist will guide you on the range of massage techniques available (e.g. deep tissue, myofascial release). Working on an individual basis, when appropriate your therapist will advise you if a combination of treatments such as chiro and massage may be of benefit to you.
Ongoing Care
Following your first appointment you will be provided with an Aftercare leaflet, which includes post-treatment guidance from your Massage Therapist. This may include stretches and postural advice.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the Practice if you have any concerns or questions following
